Classrooms and Age Groups
Our nursery can accommodate up to 8 children ages 6 weeks - 16 months. Our little ones are stimulated with music, reading, one-on-one floor time with their caregivers, and plenty of outdoor time including stroller rides and swinging. Parents are to supply food, bottles, diapers and wipes.
Children ages 14 months - 2 1/2 years are kept busy in our toddler room with singing, reading, art, sensory experiences, large and small motor activities, and outdoor play. The Highscope curriculum is introduced. Lunches, diapers and wipes are to be brought from home. We provide a morning and afternoon snack. Lunch is followed by a nap from approximately 12-2 pm.
Once a child is 2 1/2 and toilet trained, he or she can move into the junior preschool. This is a class designed to prepare them for our Highscope preschool program. Children are introduced to more structured activities, including number, shape, letter recognition and writing. Socially, children are encouraged to share, take turns, and be a good friend to others.
Children between the ages of 3 and 4 years can advance to our Senior-Preschool. The class has a good balance of structure and choice, all which fall within the Highscope guidelines. The activities planned are to help get the children ready for kindergarten, both socially and academically. Letter recognition, socially acceptable behavior, and writing skills are emphasized in this class, along with creative art, science, and math activities.
The Pre-Kindergarten program is for children ages 4 to 5 years. Here, the children are prepared for success in kindergarten. The Highscope curriculum is a child-centered, active learning curriculum. Its success in helping children develop to their full potential has been validated through years of research and is acclaimed and used all over the world.
